Patient Engagement: No One is Just a Number

We’ve been spending a lot of time reading and posting and tweeting about Patient Engagement and now as we get ready for HIMSS14, we are looking forward to meeting other professionals in the same or a complimentary health care space.

Patient Engagement. Back to the Basics.

Engaging patients is in itself, actually quite difficult. We understand that. The old “bedside manners” of yesterday are all but forgotten. Everyone is in a hurry to be somewhere, doctors and patients. Everyone has their devices: phones, tablets, etc. Because of how busy we all are, providers need to recognize and follow the needs of patients, and in minute detail.

Are You Practicing Your Patient Engagement Skills?

Patient engagement is a key topic in the healthcare industry today but what does that mean and why is it so important now? Generally speaking this term is simple a dialogue created between doctor and patient. Changes in the healthcare world such as Meaningful Use are requiring that specifications be met in attempt to make healthcare easier for patients. One of these changes is to make a patient’s entire health history available, easy to access while still being secure, to the patient and to every doctor the patient sees.

Automated Messaging and the FCC

As we all know the wide world of technology is constantly changing. As new technology emerges new rules and regulations are created to maintain privacy and security.  The FCC has created new rules that went into effect October of 2013. These rules require that consent be obtained when automated prerecorded calls are sent to wireless numbers.  This consent may be obtained by electronic means, paper means or oral consent if it is recorded.  The FCC uses the term “robocalls” to describe automated messages created by telemarketers.

Meaningful Use Part Two – Reminder Messages

Meaningful Use has been a recent hot topic in the healthcare world, but do you know how it affects you?

Last time we visited meaningful use we gave a broad overview of what it was with some terms and definitions.  We described that there were specific steps and a series of objectives that must be completed in order to move on to the next step.

Inphonite is Crazy about Health

Today I want to take a moment to talk about health. General health. I am currently writing this blog from my fabulous treadmill desk in my home. I am absolutely addicted to this thing. The problem is, I am really bad at using the mouse. I am however, a very adept typist and can therefore type at pretty close to my maximum speed and not have issue.

A Beginner’s Guide to Meaningful Use

What is “Meaningful Use,” anyhow? I am sure you have heard this phrase buzzing around and are curious to find out what it is and how it relates to you, so we are going to make it very simple for you with this brief summary.

Finding the Humanity in Technology

There is something to be said for the genuine: the way your favorite pen glides across a page as you test out your cursive after months of not once touching ink to paper. It’s like seeing an old friend after weeks of a friendship condensed into 160 characters on a screen, their voice more comforting than you remember and it’s like no time has passed at all. I can’t remember the last time I wrote something down that was longer than a post-it note reminding me what time my show was on. I make excuses saying I don’t have time, that typing is just so much easier and faster. However, have you ever sat down to think that, in some instances, slow might just be better?

Another city, another trade-show come and gone.

It was just after Mardi Gras, so the City was still somewhat decorated and filled with culture, as ever. The River was brown and we didn’t manage to make it to the ocean. The Convention Center however, was huge. Walking from one end to the other felt like miles after standing all day. Point of fact, it was actually one mile long. Tucked away in the back of the hall we had a great vantage point. We saw some old friends and met some wonderful new friends. We even wandered over to see Bill Clinton speak. We were pretty far back, and didn’t get to see very much, however. The number of people taking photos with their cell phones was astonishing. I sort of thought the Secret Service wouldn’t go for that, but apparently it’s not a big deal.
